Highly magnetic in any setting, the Danish String Quartet makes a long-awaited return to Vivo Performing Arts. Their debut in 2013 was praised as “a concert that was as comprehensively rewarding as any chamber-music performance in recent memory… Do not lose track of this group: Even by today’s high standards, it offers something very special” (Boston Globe). Vivo Performing Arts audiences have kept very good track of this group, and they always receive a warm welcome!
In their return to Boston, the Danish String Quartet presents works that truly represent their wide range of performance interests, which span the classical quartet literature and beyond. Quartets by Haydn and Shostakovich sit alongside a set of Nordic folk tunes, beautifully arranged by members of the ensemble.
