Pianist and organist John Paul McGee debuted on the Series in 2024 with his Jazz Quartet, introducing audiences to his signature “Gospejazzical,” an entertaining and uplifting blend of gospel, jazz, and classical music. With harmonies that soothe the spirit and rhythms that get toes tapping, his music is both deeply moving and irresistibly joyful.

Hear McGee perform a solo program of classical music by Black composers in the first half, before the other members of the Trio join him for a Gospejazzical set.

For his Doctor of Ministry degree, McGee studied the stress-relieving effects of Gospejazzical on Black church pastors, but its transformative power is for everyone. Come experience the soul-soothing, uplifting effects of Gospejazzical!
