MAYU KONOE  viola
LUKAS SCHWARZ  cello

Leonkoro is Esperanto for "lionheart," and this Berlin-based quartet lives up to every spirited syllable. At its core are brothers Jonathan and Lukas Schwarz, first violin and cello, whose sibling intuition gives the ensemble an almost telepathic inner pulse. Founded in 2019, they swept the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition in 2022, winning nine prizes as the youngest ensemble in the field. Alfred Brendel called them "perfectly unanimous, colorful and original." Come experience their fearless, indomitable sound in person.

“It is not only the Leonkoro Quartet's insight into the longings and distortions of human desire, but also their outstanding ability to shape these insights into sound that leaves us stunned.”
